Beach Information

COVID Update

Please remember that the beaches are only able to open if everyone who uses or enters the beach maintains a physical distance of two metres from others. Team sports are not to be played or practised within these amenities and/or recreational areas.

Rules

Please help keep our beaches safe and enjoyable for everyone by following these rules:

  • Motor vehicles are strictly prohibited on all Sherkston Shores beaches (with the exception of golf carts).
  • Launch areas are provided at both Wyldewood Beach and Elco Beach. Watercraft carriers are to be removed after launching and must be stored/parked in designated resort areas, not in communal areas.
  • Beach access is permitted by foot traffic and golf carts only.
  • For the safety of fellow beach goers, campfires and charcoal barbeques are prohibited on all of our beaches. Propane barbeques are permitted.
  • Enjoyment of our beaches is for all of our guests, understanding it is first come first serve basis.
  • Glass bottles or glass containers are not permitted on any of our beaches.
  • Any drunken/intoxicated or disorderly behaviour and illegal activity including the use of illegal drugs will be reported to the Police and will result in eviction from the resort.
  • Due to limited beach space, volleyball games are to be played in the designated areas provided by Sherkston Shores.
  • All beaches within Sherkston Shores are “Swim at your Own Risk” and are not monitored by lifeguards.
  • Please pay attention to all advisories/regulations of the beaches as posted at each beach entrance.
  • There is a dog beach located at the end of Elco Beach near the Sherkston property line. There are no time restrictions in place, however the rules of the dog beach are posted at the entrance and must be adhered to. Please be responsible pet owners and remember to pick up after your dog.
  • Dogs are not permitted on any other beach between the hours of 10am and 6pm.

Maintenance

Beaches are groomed on a regular basis during peak season. Team typically starts around 7am during the week and 6am on weekends. Please note that emergency repairs and/or maintenance in other areas of the resort could delay this task temporarily.

Water Conditions

Niagara Region tests the beaches on a regular basis throughout the season. At times, beaches will be posted as unsafe/closed when tests show higher than normal levels of E. Coli.
